Sunshine and a table in the courtyard at local Wine Bar and Bistro Barker’s and it’s not a bad way to end the week!
Barker’s has a long and interesting history that has resulted in a good local bar offering a great menu including wood fired pizzas and an array of oysters.
We are happily enjoying an Ocean Eight Pinot Gris when our oysters arrive, Natural, with apple & verjus are proudly perched on their bed of salt and are shucked and ready to go!
The verjus is lovely but I can’t allow it to distract from the creamy, salty luscious oysters!
The Spannar Crab Oysters are picture perfect with a fresh spannar crab salad piled high on top and served with green nam jim dressing.
Absolutely delicious, such a shame we can’t order a dozen more and a bottle of champagne and stay for the rest of the day!
The pork is just sublime! 3 generous carvings of juicy pork with crackling edges to die for!
Served with crunchy salad glistening in green nam jim dressing and splodge of spicy hoisin sauce, it is a winner of a dish and just gorgeously presented on the round wooden boards.
With plenty of pizzas to cheese from the wood fired oven must be working hard all day, and my lamb with Persian feta, blackened onion & taleggio is great!
Super crispy thin base with a generous serve of slow cooked lamb that is just falling apart, salty rich feta and onion with plenty of fresh rosemary is divine! I should have stopped at half way but it was just tooooo good!
The other plates on the table look good and a traded piece of chilli garlic prawn pizza is delish and the entree calamari looks and smell bloody good!
All round winner! We all leave grudgingly, an afternoon in the sun with more of Barker’s wonderful hospitality would be so nice!
