Herbie Mills has taken over the old National spot and are offering a little breakie or brunch for the locals to enjoy. A sunny, cheerful spot with friendly staff, great coffee and a mouth watering menu.
Damn pretty coffee and tastes good too!
Simple and a great test of any breakfast spot, eggs on toast with a side of hash browns. Firstly I am challenged by eggs, especially scrambled, I often just don’t really like them….. unless they are done exceptionally well like these. Creamy, perfectly cooked – so still very ‘wet’, with a gorgeous flavour – tick, tick, tick! The home made hash browns are just perfect, it makes such a difference when they are done well and not out of a packet – I kid you not this has happened recently!!
On a slightly more grandiose scale the ‘Ancient grains, roasted tomato, falafel and poached eggs with herb salad’ is also created and presented with great care and finesse. A perfect poached egg over a bowl full of healthy, power packed quinoa and so much flavour, it was a real work out for the jaw!
Can’t wait to head back to see Herbie again, couldn’t have left with a bigger smile!
